Every year for the last several years, Burton Group has expanded the number of enterprise
IT issues we cover in our research. In that we are once again expanding the number
of issues we cover, this year is no different. But this year is very different when
it comes to how we’re packaging, pricing, and integrating the research we provide.
Simply put, today’s IT problems don’t confine themselves to neat categories. As
business has become more virtual and IT problems span disciplines, you need
research and tools that solve your problems, regardless of how the research is categorized.
So we’re integrating our coverage areas, providing better tools for finding research,
and announcing a packaging and pricing model reflecting the realities you face
on a daily basis.
I’m excited to announce
Burton Group IT1, a new subscription package that includes access to all of
the research we provide, in an integrated fashion. IT1 delivers comprehensive research
and advice from both the business side, with our
Executive Advisory Program, and the execution side, with our in-depth technology
research and architecture tools. IT1 also comes with new
Enterprise Architecture coverage, which takes a pragmatic approach to this
discipline, helping you enable outcomes that benefit the business.
With our enterprise licensing model, everyone who needs access to these tools will
have them; there’s no need to count seats. IT1 clients will also have a named Research
Assistant who will ensure you get the most out of your relationship
with us. Features such as improved search tools, Watchwords, and the IT Research
home page make the research you need easier to find and track. Over the next year,
we’ll be increasing the functionality of our client web site, implementing features
that make it easy for you to find what you need, fast.
Those tools work across all of the research we provide, including our newest coverage
area, Data Management Strategies.
Based on the inbound inquires we receive on the subject, it’s clear the proliferation
of data is creating both significant problems and opportunities for today’s businesses.
Today’s enterprises are wrestling with business intelligence, including data mining
and warehousing; management issues such as data classification, integration, and
security; database management; and a plethora of technologies and standards, many
of which are based on XML. Managing data well gives you a better understanding of
your business. Managing poorly can lead to missed opportunities and regulatory headaches.
To help you with these issues, Burton Group has assembled a team of highly respected
industry analysts with a deep understanding of data management in the enterprise.
That team has been hard at work building out our
Data Management coverage area. And while it will be available on a standalone
basis, Data Management
is also part of the entire IT1 package, enabling us to help you with a more
comprehensive, holistic approach to your IT initiatives.
I invite you to review the
analyst’s bios and preview the new
Data Management coverage area. I also encourage you to
check out the breadth of coverage and features we’re offering with
IT1.
Additionally, Burton Group Catalyst
Conference will include workshops and conference sessions that take a deeper
look at data management and all of the issues we cover in IT1, and how they’re affecting
the enterprise. For more information about Catalyst Conference, visit our
Catalyst Conference website.
